An undercover BBC investigation has printed companies were exhibiting unsuitable meals hygiene rankings in England and Wales, with many mendacity about them when challenged.
Secret recording captured companies from little native restaurants to a supermarket chain, deceptive prospects with unsuitable Meals Requirements Agency (FSA) rankings, in what consultants recount is a nationwide field.
Where areas lied when requested about their rankings, one expert said this amounted to fraud.
Confronted with the proof, some companies did not answer at all while others denied any deliberate deception.
